MY STORY

I love words. I savour them like dark chocolate. I also love how God used words to create earth, space and seeds, how he recreates us with his Word, and how he gives us authority to recreate by wielding words.

As a child I loved words, reading when I was supposed to be sleeping, doing chores, practicing piano, and listening to my grade 5 science teacher. Before I knew how to write the alphabet, I remember scrawling wavy shapes on lined paper. Clean lined paper was like canvas, waiting to be created into something wonderful.

But soon fear set in. Dreams to become an author felt like a presumptuous aspiration, so I settled into more achievable plans, and got stuck.

This blog is my story of freedom from fear. It’s the story of grace to embrace my design, and I hope it will be a gift of grace to embrace your design, to move forward in your story, to be who God dreamed of, when he sculpted you.

I grew up in a farm family near Edmonton Alberta. From there I moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia, to study Christian Education at Summit Bible College. Today I live in Surrey, with my husband Mark, our daughter Rachel and our dogs, Harriet and Boulder. The humans in our family inspire each other to pursue our creative dreams. The dogs creative dreams are less encouraged because they involve digging and escaping.

I have taught English as a private tutor, served in church ministry with Mark, and served in development work in Rwanda, Africa. Some of my favourite things include hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and sharing a walk among trees, or coffee with a friend.
